This collection consists of a Civil War letter written by Franklin Mangle on April 14, 1862, at Cumberland Fort, Kentucky. Mangle discussed the location and forthcoming campaign to capture Cumberland Gap.

Mangle was located fourteen miles from the Cumberland Gap at the time he wrote the letter.
