Silvanus Thompson Letters

This collection contains two letters written in 1897 and some handwritten notes from Professor Silvanus Thompson. The letters are addressed to Professor Wilhelm Röntgen and largely concern Thompson's involvement with the Röntgen Society of London. Singer Manufacturing Company Orders

This collection contains two orders to the Singer Manufacturing Company in New York, New York from July 1867. The first order is a letter sent by George Tobler from Knoxville, Tennessee; Tobler describes his most recent purchase of two sewing machines and is ordering more bobbins and thread. The second order is an itemized list placed through Boston, Massachusetts.

Sinking of the Rohna by Don Fortune

This collection consists of a self-published book, Sinking of the Rohna: America's Worst Troopship Loss in World War II, by Don Fortune. The HMT Rohna was sunk in the Mediterranean on November 26, 1943 after being hit by a secret missile aimed from a German bomber. 1,015 American soldiers died.

Sir Samuel White Baker Letters and Photograph

Sixteenth U.S. Infantry Officers Roster

Abstract

This roster lists Colonel Caleb C. Sibley; Lieutenant Colonel Grotius R. Giddings; Majors Thomas G. Pitcher, William P. Carlin, and Peter T. Swaine; and twenty four captains, 1st lieutenants, and 2nd lieutenants. Most names have a date for their rank in the regiment, and a few have brevet ranks as well. Most also list the company, battalion, station, and current position.
