Ted Carlson Papers

Abstract The Ted Carlson Papers, 1912-1969 (bulk 1932-1960), consists primarily of the incoming and outgoing correspondence of Carlson, a New York City psychiatrist who, in 1944 and 1945, worked as a laboratory engineer on the Manhattan Project. While the bulk of Carlson's outgoing correspondence is from post-World War II years, a number of the letters from mid- to late-1945 provide insight into his views on the use of atomic energy as a military weapon. Ted Reynolds Papers

This collection documents Methodist minister Ted Reynolds' work with the Shawnee Indians of Little Axe, Oklahoma. Of particular interest are the papers showing Reynolds's fight against the use of peyote. Tellico Dam Presentation Paper

Abstract

Written in 1983 for the National Conference on Public Administration in New York, Stephen Rechichar and Michael Fitzgerald's paper, "The Big Dam and the Little Fish: TVA's Tellico Dream in an Era of Intragovernmental Regulation," outlines the controversial construction of Tellico Dam on the Little Tennessee River between 1936 and 1979 by the Tennessee Valley Authority. Sources are taken from the Tennessee Valley Authority, local people and local officials, state and federal documents.

Abstract

Colletion consists of an original document confirming the sale of land (four million acres, much of which already had Cherokee and Creek Indian inhabitants) from the state of Georgia to the Tennessee Company, owned by Zachariah Cox and Matthias Maber. The item was signed on January 24, 1795. It specifies the amount of land and its boundaries, marking beginning and ending areas with waterways like Bear Creek and the Tennessee River.
