This collection includes two copies of the Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Schedule for 1945-46. This schedule includes a group photograph of the team, a photograph of the head coach John Mauer, a schedule of games, a color advertisement for Coca-Cola, a blank scoresheet, and a guide to referee's signals.

Tennessee Waltz Lead Sheet Manuscript

Abstract

The Tennessee Waltz is a popular country music song written by Redd Stewart and Pee Wee King in December 1946. The song, made famous by Patti Page in 1950, would later become one of Tennessee’s official state songs. The manuscript is a handwritten lead sheet composed on a piece of music paper and includes penciled-in substitutions for lyrics in the bridge.

The Ballad of Davy Crockett Lyrics Mimeograph

This mimeographed sheet features the lyrics of the theme song to the 1954 Disney television mini-series entitled Davy Crockett. The mimeograph was handed out to every student in Mrs. Delozier's sixth grade class at the Sam Houston School in Maryville, Tennessee, where the donor was a student in the 1955-1956 school year.

Abstract

In this manuscript, Dixie Lee McCrary enumerates some of John Nicholas Beal's descendants, focusing primarily on Beal's son, also named John, who settled in Hawkins County, Tennessee in the early 1900s. McCrary draws on public and church records from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and Tennessee and includes photocopies of some of these documents in her final work. This manuscript was later published as The Beals of Hawkins County.
