This collection houses materials documenting the first few years of the University Studies Program, an interdisciplinary collection of activities designed to provide a broad view of science, social science, and humanities. Materials include a timeline showing the establishment of the program, a 1986 program review, budget materials, and catalog entries.

Collection consists of part of an unsigned letter written to My dear Annie, dated July 4. The year not given, and the letter is incomplete, lacking one or more pages. Much of the letter deals with the writer defending the treatment of enslaved people by southerners. Also writes that her husband, a Presbyterian minister, and her had to move from Kentucky to Clarksville, Tennessee to avoid factionalism within the church.

Uriah Fleshman of the 118th Ohio Infantry wrote this letter at Camp Soudon, Tennessee on October 25, 1863 just before the Battle of Resaca. He discusses recent skirmishes between his regiment and the nearby Confederate troops as well as the imminent battle.

This collection consists of two letters written by Uriah Scott. He wrote one to his niece from Fort Pillow, Tennessee on February 27, 1863 and one to his mother from Union City, Tennessee on November 20, 1863. In these letters, Scott describes serving picket guard, mentions fighting in a small battle, and discusses family life. A short note on the back of the letter to his niece addressed to J. J. Weller discusses a business matter involving a black laborer.

In this March 27, 1864 letter to his sister, Urias Fleshman discusses his life in the military and conveys information gathered from other people's letters.

This collection houses negatives and photographs depicting the 63rd College Training Detachment of the Army Air Forces, which operated at the University of Tennessee between 1943 and 1944.

The U.S. Army Provost Marshal's Office Pass Collection contains a pass allowing civilian James Dickinson to travel across military lines in 1862 to purchase necessary items for the use of his family.

This collection contains three folders of correspondence, including policy and program recommendations, between the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission and the Medical Board of Review from 1947-1951.

This bill requests $5,000 to appoint a man to negotiate with the Cherokee Indians for land suitable to construct a canal between the Tennessee River and the Alabama and Mobile Rivers.

This collection consists of the full texts of HR757, HR845, and HR916 which deal with finances associated with Indian affairs and Tennessee soldiers from the Second Seminole War.

This collection includes docket sheets from the United States Circuit Court from 1864 to 1869. The docket sheets are from the East Tennessee District. It includes the name of the case, services, by whom, and remarks of the case.

Materials included are meteorological summary reports for Memphis, Knoxville, and Chattanooga, Tennessee, from 1911 to 1949.

Materials included are reports on the drought of 1913 from the USDA and four volumes of Tennessee section records of the monthly mean temperature and monthly total precipitation from January 1, 1898 to December 31, 1930.

This double-sided broadside reprints a message to Congress by James Madison (June 10); a report from the Committee on Foreign Relations; the declaration of war, signed by Henry Clay and William Crawford, and approved by James Madison (June 18); a proclamation by the president, signed by James Madison and James Monroe (June 19); and a letter to the citizens of West Tennessee from Felix Grundy (June 25).

This collection contains a letter book from the U.S. Provost Marshall of Ohio. The entries are dated 1863-1864, and contain information on people who sent letters and those mentioned in the letters.

This journal describes a cruise of the USS Natchez upon which David G. Farragut was an officer. It also briefly details Farragut's command of the USS Boxer. Midshipman Roberts Poinsett Lovell kept the journal from 1833-1835.

This collection consists of two cheer songs for Tennessee, one to be performed against Kentucky and the other to be performed against Vanderbilt.

This collection houses scripts of programs that were delivered over WSM (Nashville) under the auspices of the University of Tennessee Division of Extension between 1937 and 1941. The majority of these programs were targeted to a young audience, although a few were for general consumption.

This collection contains items gathered by or sent to the UT General Alumni Association during and after World War II regarding University of Tennessee alumni participation in the war. Material includes photographs, newspaper clippings, newsletters, correspondence and more documenting several individuals.
