The Philip and Alma Oliver WWII Papers contain materials from Master Technical Sergeant Philip M. Oliver's service with Marine Air Group 25 and the South Pacific Combat Air Transport Command in the Pacific theater during World War II. It also contains materials from MAG-25 and SCAT reunions.

This collection contains material documenting the military service of Philip B. Farris, particularly his time as a prisoner of war during World War II. Included is correspondence from Farris to family members as well as correspondence to Farris’s parents from the military and friends regarding his prisoner of war status. Also included are newspaper clippings, a map of POW camps, and a few photocopied photographs of Farris with handwritten descriptions.

This photograph, taken in 1943, records twenty-six women and two men in Navy uniforms before a plane. Imprinted on the front is "AMM M-14 SEC. A / NATTC Memphis 43."

The majority of these 181 black-and-white photographs were taken on New Guinea during World War II and show the 42nd and 100th Army Air Force Bomb Groups. Among the subjects depicted are aviators, fighter jets (some replete with hand-painted logos), native islanders, and the island itself.
