Abstract In this letter to Attorney General Edwards Pierrepont, W. R. Cobb asks if President Grant intends to retain William Spence as the Martial of Cobb's district in Tennessee. W. T. Kennerly Memorandum Regarding the Death of General John H. Morgan

Abstract

W. T. Kennerly wrote this memorandum in 1936 to record a conversation he had with John Bell Brownlow in approximately 1912 regarding Brownlow's memories of General John H. Morgan's death. Brownlow witnessed Morgan's death while commanding the 9th Tennessee Cavalry (USA) near Greeneville, Tennessee in 1864. Two versions of the memorandum are present. One is a typewritten final copy and the other a photocopy of a draft bearing Kennerly's handwritten annotations.

W. V. Giles Letter

W. W. Woodruff Papers

This collection contains two ledgers of purchased items from John Cruze in 1868 and 1869, from Woodruff’s hardware store. Also contained is a receipt of payment from John Cruze, signed by Woodruff, a certificate for one share of stock in the Eastern Division Fair Association, and a Certificate of Distinction from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, giving W. W. Woodruff a note of distinction in Latin, dated June 5, 1888.

Wallace McClure Collection on Gone With the Wind

This collection houses a variety of materials that Wallace McClure collected regarding the book, movie, and stage versions of Gone With the Wind. Among these items are a transcribed telegram from Margaret Mitchell Marsh, a State Department report, reminiscences from Anne McClure and Josephine Powell Beaty, a book review, two magazines, a 20-page program from the movie, and many newspaper clippings.
