Dr. Herbert Acuff Scrapbook
This collection consists primarily of a scrapbook of congratulatory letters sent to Dr. Herbert Acuff upon his election as president of the International College of Surgeons in 1948. Also included are loose items, including letters, academic articles, and clippings, that were found inserted in the front of the scrapbook; these items date between 1948 and 1955.

E. D. Bruce Civil War Letter
This February 19,1864 letter by Private E. D. Bruce of the 8th Georgia Infantry informs of the "good health and fine spirits" of his army. Written to his family, he informs them of the happenings and current conditions of the war.
E. S. Chesbrough Letter
E. S. Chesbrough wrote this letter to H. M. Nelson, a civil engineer in Faytteville, North Carolina, from Knoxville, Tennessee on June 12, 1837. In it, Chesbrough describes spending the night with a local family in a small cabin, mentions his duties as a surveyor, and discusses some church matters. This collection also houses a typewritten transcript of the original letter.
Early Knoxville Photographs Collection
This collection consists of a number of portrait photographs taken by 40 different Knoxville photography firms between approximately 1870 and 1900.
East Tennessee Claim Books
This collection consists of four ledger books that contain property and pension claims made by East Tennesseans following the Civil War.
East Tennessee College Records
This collection houses 47 documents and typewritten notes showing the operations of East Tennessee College during the first part of the 19th century.
East Tennessee Postcards
This collection includes three postcards depicting places in East Tennessee. The first, used in 1909, depicts a photograph of a hotel in Lea's Springs and was printed by Earle Harrison on Knoxville. The second, used in 1911, depicts a drawing of Knoxville in 1793. The third, used in 1912, depicts coke ovens in Lafollette. Each postcard has been used and includes a message on the back side of the postcard.
Eastern State Hospital for the Insane Photograph
This collection features a single, mounted black and white photograph of 6 female patients and 15 female nurses from the Eastern State Hospital for the Insane dating circa 1915.

Edmund Burke Whitman Civil War Letter
This collection contains a single handwritten letter from December 5, 1864, written by Edmund Burke Whitman, Assistant Quartermaster, in Knoxville, Tennessee. The letter is addressed to Lt. Colonel Andrew J. Mackay to let him know of the needed supplies.
Edward J. Sanford Ledger
This ledger opens with several months of purchase records (which are glued into the book) and proceeds to a cash and contra record for 1856 and 1857. After several empty pages, it presents a cash record for 1864 and 1865 and ends with numerous blank pages.
Edward Lynn Letter
This letter was written on December 25-27, 1863, in Blains Cross Roads, Tenn., by Assistant Surgeon Edward Lynn of the 65th Illinois Volunteer Infantry, to his sister. In the letter, Lynn writes of the Siege of Knoxville and the Battle of Fort Sanders, as well as on meeting Parson William Brownlow.

In this letter to Ellen McClung Berry and husband Thomas, dated March 11, 1960, from Palm Beach, Florida, the author (whose signature is unidentifiable) writes of a trip and hoping for a visit from friends in the upcoming weeks.

Ephraim Tuttle Letter
In this letter to his parents, Owen and Permelia (Cooper) Tuttle, Corporal Ephraim Tuttle discusses the Battle of Fort Sanders. He includes descriptions of Confederate casualties, estimating that the Confederate forces lost about 360 soldiers with approximately the same number taken prisoner. Tuttle goes on to detail skirmishes at Bean's Station, Blain's Crossroads, and Rockford and mentions the lack of supplies and struggles with commanding officers.
