Anne Romaine Audiotape Collection

Abstract

This collection contains 46 audio tapes, primarily of interviews collected by Anne Romaine for her unfinished biography on Alex Haley. There are also some made by the Haley Museum, lectures given by Alex Haley, and interviews of Anne Romaine herself. Primarily, the interviews are conducted by Ms. Romaine with relatives, friends, and others, including George Haley, Rodnell Collins, Dr. C. Eric Lincoln, Fred Montgomery, and many others.

This collection houses original letters, poems, photographs, and drawings documenting Nettie Alma (Blevins) Buttram, formerly of Oneida, Tennessee and the subject of Barbara Cueter's historical fiction memoir entitled Sand Against the Wind. Additionally, this collection contains the notes and drafts that Cueter created while writing and editing the book.

D. Murfree.

Overview Collection contains three typewritten manuscripts collected or compiled by Ferol Frost Hubbs, a genealogist from Greeneville, Tennessee. Two items are histories of Tennessee families, "The Genealogy of Andrew Johnson, The Seventeenth President of the United States" (17 pages) and "The Genealogy of the John E. McGaughey Family of Atlanta, Georgia” (61 pages). The third is an index to a previously published work, Histories of Tennessee, and is 174 pages....

Abstract In this letter, Frances Hodgson Burnett informs Mr. Jones that she expects to find the two manuscripts that he has mailed with her son Vivian (whose business address they were forwarded to) when she returns to New York from Washington, D.C. She mentions being very interested in Vivian's Children's Magazine, which she helps him to edit without sitting in an editorial chair in an office. Burnett ends by expressing her hope that she and Mr. Jones can meet when he visits New York a few weeks...
