This collection contains papers relating to Ray Zuker’s military service in World War II. It includes Zuker’s reminiscences of his wartime experiences (particularly about D-Day), a history of the 486th Bomb Group, and newsletters of the 486th Bomb Group Association.

The Ray Higgins Oral History, 2000, is a typescript from an oral history interview with Ray Higgins by Dr. Kurt Piehler and Ellen Eberts of the University of Tennessee for the Veteran's Oral History Project conducted by the Center for the Study of War and Society. The interview focuses primarily on his World War II experiences, but also covers pre-war and post-war periods.

This collection documents the World War II military service of Robert D. Lenwell. The collection includes Lenwell's own remembrances of the war in the forms of a service diary and a memoir; photocopies of photographs and service records (including discharge certificate); newspaper articles; and publications.

The Robert Huddleston World War II Narrative is a personal World War II Memoir entitled Into the Wild Blue: The War Years. The narrative discusses Huddleston's service during World War II with the P-47 Thunderbolts, 404th Fighter Group, Ninth Air Force.

This collection contains a single copy of a memoir written by Rocky E. DeLaurentis entitled "Laughing and Griping with the 97th Seabees." Also included is a photocopy of a newspaper article, "Rocky and the Seabees Aim for the Funny," about DeLaurentis and the writing of his book.

This collection houses a typescript of an oral history interview with Rodney Quin Nelson Jr. conducted by Charles Johnson for the Veteran's Oral History Project of the Center for the Study of War and Society. The interview focuses primarily on Nelson's World War II experiences in the U. S. Navy.

In this four-page memoir, Simpson Linke provides a brief description of his life after World War II. He discusses his journey home from South Korea, his discharge from the Navy, studying Engineering at Cornell, and buying a new home with assistance from the GI Bill.

This collection consists of a memoir, news articles, and photographs documenting the World War II service of Stanley L. White with the 392nd Bomb Group of the Eighth Air Force. The memoir is approximately 25 typed pages and details White’s experiences in the war between 1942 and 1945. The news clippings and photos are photocopies but include White’s handwritten captions and identifications.

This collection includes one copy of The Japanese Story, research and recollections of Stanley Sommers' World War II experiences as a prisoner of war.

This collection is a typewritten memoir by Robert Bracken detailing his experiences serving stateside with the Third Service Command during World War II. The memoir is 95 pages and though it was printed and completed in 1991, the text is based off of Bracken’s original manuscript written just after the war in 1946.

This collection contains the World War II memoir of Thomas Curtin. The manuscript begins with a letter written to his children explaining his reasonings for writing down his memories of his wartime experiences. The typed memoir is four pages long and focuses on Curtin’s experiences while discovering Stalag Luft III, a prisoner of war camp.

This collection consists of an April 27, 2000 interview with Thomas N. Parlon for the Veteran's Oral History Project at the Center for the Study of War and Society, Department of History, University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Parlon discusses his participation in the National Guard and his service in the Pacific.

This collection documents Victor E. Wade's World War II military service including a typed memoir, infantry newsletters, and military booklets.

This collection contains the diary of Virgil R. Embry which details his experiences abroad in the European Theater of World War II. The diary is an eighteen-page typescript that covers his time of military service between April 1943 and October 1945. Embry also lists his stations including those stateside and in North Africa and Italy.

This collection contains W. E. (Bill) Warde's updated version of his memoir My Military Service which covers the time on the front lines in the European Theater (1944-1946). He recounts his experiences in various battles and gives details about the movements of his unit and what he describes as the "worst night of his life," when some of his fellow soldiers were captured and killed in Germany.

This folder contains the transcript of an interview with W. Lewis Wood, dated 3 August 2002, conducted in Memphis, Tenn., by Kurt Piehler and Nashwa Van Houts of the Veteran's Oral History Project. Wood discusses his childhood in Memphis, his experiences as an engineering student at the University of Tennessee, and his time serving in the US Navy and Army during World War II and the Korean War, respectively.
