This collection houses photographs, legal documents, correspondence, blueprints, and other materials documenting the history and donation of Hopecote to the University of Tennessee. The images include exterior and interior views, the Hopecote Advisory Committee, donors, antiques, floor plans, and brochures. The legal documents include renovation plans, appraisal information and forms, and donor information.

Horace C. Smith Papers Regarding the College of Agriculture

Abstract

This collection houses materials that Dr. Horace C. Smith gathered while writing a history of the University of Tennessee's Agriculture program entitled Honored Calling: A History of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. Although the work was compiled in preparation for the University's bicentennial celebration in 1994, Dr. Smith's death delayed the final product until 1999.

Institute of Agriculture Newsletter

Jeanne Barkley Card File regarding University of Tennessee Students and Alumni Killed in World War II

This card file, which Jeanne Barkley most likely created during her tenure as military records clerk, documents University of Tennessee students and alumni who were killed during World War II. Each card lists the deceased's full name, rank, date of birth, next of kin, home address, dates and campus of U. T. attendance, and academic program. Many of the cards also provide the date and cause of the soldier's death.
