This collection contains bound volumes, financial papers, and other papers pertaining to the West Tennessee Flood Control & Soil Conservation District.

This collection features information obtained by Thomas B. Paxton, Jr. (between 1902-1930) while researching the John and Rhoda (Morris) Wharton family of Tennessee. Included is material related to Tennessee Senator Jesse Wharton.

This circular, printed on lined paper, invites qualified veterans or their heirs to contact the firm of White & DeLany for assistance in claiming their Civil War soldier bounty. It provides the text of the two pertinent sections of the Congressional Act that established these bounties, before summarizing and explaining them below. It also gives directions to the firm's offices in Cleveland, Tennessee.

This collection houses receipts from the Whittaker-Holtsinger Hardware Co., located in Morristown, Tennessee, recording sales to Frank William Taylor and the Taylor Supply Company from 1924 to 1941.

Wilbur P. Buck wrote these three letters, dated between October 9, 1862 and June 23, 1863, to his sweetheart, Charlotte Lottie Smith. The first letter was sent from Camp Fuller and the others were written at the Officer's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. They discuss Buck and Smith's relationship, Buck's homesickness, and the wounded and dead soldiers that Buck sees in the field hospital where he works.

This collection houses 22 letters written between various members of the Wildermuth family during the Civil War. Brothers John, Henry, and Eli Wildermuth wrote much of this correspondence while serving in the Union Army and discuss such topics as life in the South, the battles they have experienced, their living conditions, and their desire to return home to Wisconsin.

The collection consists of one typescript article submitted to the Chicago Record-Herald, written by Wiley L. Morgan, about the marked longevity of citizens living in Campbell County, Tennessee. The piece is accompanied by a letter of rejection from the editor dated March 10, 1902.

The Wiley O. Woods Diary, 1944-1945, consists of a photocopy of Woods' World War II diary. Woods wrote every day from November 26, 1944 to November 1, 1945. Woods' diary gives insight and understanding to flight groups' activities during World War II.

This collection contains research collected by Wiley O. Woods, Jr. and Ed Weiss. It concerns the detachment of Air Force men who were sent to San Jose, Mindoro, Philippine Islands during the early days of World War II, and who spent 37 months in a Prisoner of War camp (Tan Toey) on the island of Ambon.

A single handwritten document created by Wiley Rose, an overseer. The document contains a list of names, likely of individuals who helped construct a road in 1892.

In a letter dated January 8, 1915, to Henry W. Jones, Dromgoole discusses a paper she sent and requests information in order to resend it.

In this letter, Captain William R. Story of the 1st U.S. Colored Artillery (heavy) writes to John J. King on behalf of a soldier under his command named Tecumsey whose wife, formerly one of King's enslaved people, is still living in King's home. The soldier would like her to be able to remain in the house, and Story assures King that the man earns a reasonable wage and will be good for any small amount of a years rent.

This collection contains William Austin's memoir A Proud Marine: World War II Veteran Bunk Austin which documents his experiences as a Marine beginning with his enlistment on August 31, 1934. The manuscript includes photographs, military records, correspondence, and brief descriptions of the main events of Austin’s service including his participation in battles on Saipan and Tinian. Also included are candid photographs of daily military life and personal remembrances.

This is a collection of sixty-one Civil War letters written by William A. Huddard to his father. The letters begin in June of 1861 and end in April of 1864. Huddard’s letters to his father describe many aspects of life in the western armies during the Civil War. He describes battles, camp life, enemy combatants, the environment, furloughs, his health, rumors, and weather.

This collection is a diary written by William A. Mayo of Monroe County, Tennessee between the years 1861 and 1866. The majority of the diary Mayo recounts daily life during his years as a captured captain in the Confederate Army as well as a list of fellow prisoners. Mayo was kept in a Union prison on Johnson's Island in Lake Erie. This item is a typescript.

William A. Smith of the 116th Pennsylvania Infantry (also called the Irish Brigade) wrote this letter to his family in Chester County, Pennsylvania on August 30, 1863. In it, he reports that three men from the 2nd Division (one from the 71st Pennsylvania Infantry and another from the 20th Massachusetts Infantry) were executed for desertion and speculates that some from his own regiment might suffer the same fate.

This handwritten document consists of a series of letters written by brothers William and John Shields on June 20, 1800. The letter is addressed to James and Henry Shields of Greene County, Tennessee.
