T. J. Crawford Letter

Abstract

In this letter to his brother Joe, Thomas J. Crawford mentions that he is tired of fighting and reports that three of the men from his company that are being kept prisoner in Elmira, New York have died. He also responds to his brother's letters about girls wearing him out.

T. J. Fisher Account Book

Abstract This book opens on October 9, 1874 as the Minute Book of the Carthage Automatologian Society with W. D. Gold president and T. J. Fisher secretary. Fisher used the later pages for a variety of purposes, including an alphabetical digest of laws (pages 1-61), the financial records of his law practice (pages 62-83), calving records for a herd of red polled cattle (pages 84-86), financial records concerning his guardianship of James E. and Cethilda Haywire (pages 107-111), other financial records...

T. K. Gay Letter

Abstract

This collection consists of one handwritten letter, written in 1864 in Knoxville, Tennessee, by T. K. Gay of the Signal Corps to his brother Cal in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. It reports that Knoxville is currently tranquil but expresses concern that John Morgan is preparing to attack. Gay hypothesizes that if Morgan were to attack he would meet strong resistance, as more troops were expected for the defense of the city. Gay also opines that the war will end soon.

T. M. Schleier Stereographs Depicting Montvale Springs

Abstract

These three stereographs are part of a series entitled The Beauties Around Montvale Springs, East Tennessee. They were produced by T. M. Schleier of the American and Foreign Stereoscopic Emporium in Knoxville, Tennessee. Two of the images portray waterfalls, and the third shows several people sitting by a stream.

T. P. Bateman Letter

Abstract

This letter from Lieutenant Colonel T. P. Bateman of Centerville, Tennessee was sent to D. Cambell and E. Cook on April 6, 1861 concerning the appointment of his fellow townsman Colonel Nunelly as postmaster of the town of Centreville, Tenn. The appointment is dependent on the removal of Secesh sympathizer and current postmaster Major Pleasant Hornbeak.
