This collection contains the personal and business correspondence of the North and Caldwell families.

This collection features a copy of Calm Seas, Friendly Beaches: A Landing Craft Sailor's Prayer written by Gerald M. Yankee and copyrighted in 2014. In this book, Yankee dictates his experience as a sailor in World War II for U.S. Naval landing crafts in the Pacific Theatre of war.

This document lists the members of Captain Darius Waterhouse's Company in the Battalion of Tennessee Troops. These three lieutenants, five sergeants, four corporals, and 59 privates were mustered in at D.M. Roddy's by Major W.S. McLemore for six months on August 12, 1863.

This collection consists of 39 letters written by Carl Bretz to his parents during World War II. Bretz served in the United States Army and was stationed in the Pacific theatre during the war. His parents lived in Pennsylvania. The letters document his daily life as a soldier in World War II writing to the family back home.

This collection consists of a letter written by Corporal Carl Nelson Mozingo to his father. The letter is sent from France, where Mozingo served as a member of the American Expeditionary Force, and is dated November 24, 1918, shortly after the Armistice.

This collection features two letters written from Carmichael Bohnson to his aunt Alice - one during his enrollment in the United States Army Air Force at Vanderbilt University and the other from his time spent in the Military Intelligence Service in Washington, D.C.

The interviews, conducted by Carol Owen Bell, set out to discover the long-term effects of military experience on women who served in the war.
