This collection includes a ledger dated 1911 for J. R. Payne Real Estate as inscribed on the first page. The book includes information about sales, rentals, and clients of the East Tennessee-based company. Also included are some loose materials including notes, correspondence dating between 1912-1918, and company letterhead for "J. H. Payne, Farms Any Size in Any Part of East Tennessee, Timber, Mineral and Grazing Lands."

James White Plat
This drawing documents James White's transfer of a tract of land to his son, Hugh Lawson White, on January 13, 1797. The tract is adjacent to the Holston River and is bisected by Crozier Street and nearby First Creek. It extends approximately 154 poles to the east and 182 poles to the west. The King Wale House and Parks Mill are also indicated. The map's scale is 20 poles to 1 inch.
Jesse Morrell Survey
This document describes the boundaries of a plot of land by listing the trees and poles that outline it. The back of the sheet, which is appears to be part of a larger piece of paper, is stamped "Knoxville Nov 9" and seems to be addressed to "Mr Jesse M, green field, Sull."
John M. Clemens Papers
This collection consists of four documents related to John M. Clemens. Three of these documents concern the planning and funding of the Fentress County Courthouse. The fourth is a land indenture that was filed by Clemens during his time as court clerk.
John S. Brien Letter
John S. Brien wrote this letter to David Campbell of Franklin, Tennessee, to recover a tract of land in Hickman County for Colonel Richard R. Johnson of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Joseph W. Headrick Land Grant
This land grant gives Joseph W. Headrick and his heirs a tract of 231 acres in Jefferson County, Tennessee. It includes a handwritten description of the boundaries (surveyed on April 27, 1837) and was witnessed by James K. Polk on November 23, 1839.
Josiah Patty Land Grant
This document (dated October 14, 1818 and signed by Governor Joseph McMinn) describes a tract of land that the State of Tennessee granted to Josiah Patty on November 23, 1809. This tract measured 33 acres and 3 rods and was located south of the French Broad and Holston rivers. It later passed into the Gourley family, where it remained for several generations.
Land Grant to Isaac N. Thompson and Edward Williams
This document, signed by Andrew Jackson, grants a tract of land to Isaac N. Thompson and Edward Williams in recognition of David Williams' military service. The tract consists of 384 1/4 acres northwest of the Ohio River.

Richard Thompson Land Grant
This land grant records Richard Thompson's purchase of 200 acres in Hinds Valley for 50 shillings per acre. It was recorded in New Bern (Hawkins County) North Carolina, which has since become part of Knox County, Tennessee. The extensive description of boundary markers and neighboring plots is blotted and hard to read in parts. The document is witnessed by His Excellency Richard Dobbs Spaight, Governor, Captain General, and commander in Chief of North Carolina.
Roberts Family Papers
