This collection contains a report on practical ways in which the University of Tennessee could benefit the state of Tennessee. Particular attention is paid to such broad topics as creating an interest in culture and promoting literacy. Other items discussed include improving animal husbandry and crop growing and ensuring a safe water supply.

Richard L. White wrote the bulk of the letters in this collection to his father, Thomas White, while he was studying at East Tennessee University in 1846. Also included are a letter that White wrote to his father from California in 1852 and a letter that Joseph Estabrook enclosed with R. L. White's school report.

This collection houses photographs of the University of Tennessee campus dating from approximately the 1950s. The subjects depicted include a parade, Carnicus performances, a mock trial scene, and the front of the Alumni Memorial Building with banners advertising student government candidates.

The bulk of this collection is made up of 129 ink sketches on the backs of index cards (most including the plant name) and full-page ink drawings showing the different species of Camellis plants. This collection houses three certificates of distinction presented by the University of Tennessee's Classical Department (dated 1879, 1880, and 1881), a report of grades (dated January 19, 1882), and a portrait photograph (dated April 25, 1919) documenting Rogers Van Gilder of Knoxville, Tennessee.

The School of Advertising and Public Relations completed this Academic Program Review in 2004.

University of Tennessee Architecture students created this handbook to document their proposals to fill the gaps in city structures created during city development that they observed during a 1990 trip to Poland. The handbook includes a summary of student experiences, group schedules, design drawings and blueprints, photographs, and statements from students about their purpose and method.
