This collection consists of Jessie Townsend’s military record -- including assignments, executive orders, training requests and clearances -- and his aeronautical manuals and class notes from his service in the United States Air Force during World War II.

The Jimmy Gentry Oral History, 2000, is a typescript from an oral history interview with Jimmy Gentry by Dr. Kurt Piehler and Kelly Hammond of the University of Tennessee for the Veteran's Oral History Project conducted by the Center for the Study of War and Society. The interview focuses primarily on his World War II experiences, but also covers pre-war and post-war periods.

Kesterson by Dr. Kurt Piehler and Lindsey Waller of the University of Tennessee for the Veteran's Oral History Project conducted by the Center for the Study of War and Society. The interview focuses primarily on his World War II experiences, but also covers pre-war and post-war periods. Kesterson shares the experience of surgery on the war front.

This collection consists of John E. Lane's short memoir about his experiences as a private in the United States Marine Corps beginning in June of 1944.

This collection contains a single copy of John Worthman’s memoir of his World War II experiences as a medic with the U.S. Army. The memoir begins with Worthman’s enlistment in 1942, then follows him through basic training, his service overseas (particularly in France), and back home. The document is 46 typed pages and was written in 1984.
