Malcolm Williams Collection of World War II Press Clippings

Abstract This collection consists of two scrapbooks; one is a collection of press clippings about the Atomic Bomb. The press clippings are from Johnson City Press Chronicle, The Knoxville Journal, and The Knoxville News-Sentinel. Mark Reardon Collection

The Mark Reardon Collection is composed of research regarding the Battle of Mortain (France) that Reardon assembled while writing Victory at Mortain: Stopping Hitler's Panzer Counteroffensive (2002). This material consists of unit reports (Box 2, Folders 49, 50, Box 3, Folders 1-42), declassified orders (Box 2, Folders 42, 43), written interviews with survivors (Box 1, Folders 63-67), and histories of the different battalions involved (Box 1, Folders 3-26, 45-58).

Abstract The bulk of this collection consists of letters that family and friends in Tazewell, Tennessee wrote to Mattie (Weir) McAmis in Birmingham, Alabama during the Civil War. Many of these letters were authored by Mattie's eldest daughters, Mary and Maggie. This collection documents Meeks B. Vaughan's time serving with the 17th Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron in World War II.
