Broadside Regarding the Execution of Militia Men

Abstract

This broadside, entitled A Brief Account of the Execution of the Six Militia Men recounts the story, as told by an eye-witness, of the six who were executed in February of 1815 under the orders of General Andrew Jackson. The document states that the House Committee on Military Affairs in Washington have decided to publish the documents regarding the militia men’s cases and goes on to describe the case of Sergeant Morrow, one of the militia men involved.

Bronze Star Medal Award Description for William C. Schmidt

This collection is a copy of a typescript document published by the U.S. Army Eighth Armored Division with descriptions of recent silver and bronze star medal awards. Published August 2, 1945, the eight-page document details the actions of 31 service members and their award of either the silver or bronze star medal. Included is William C. Schmidt, awarded the bronze star medal for “heroic achievement in connection with military operations against the enemy in Germany on 4 April 1945.”
