This collection contains multiple photographs of the U. S. Armed Forces in France, Germany, and Belgium during World War II.

This collection contains typewritten copies of letters written by John Gabard during his military service in World War II. From January 1944 to September 1945, Gabard wrote almost daily to various family members including his mother, wife, and siblings.

In this narrative, John S. Hurst describes his time in the U. S. Army from his induction in July of 1944 to his discharge in August of 1945. He mentions his service replenishing ammunition during the Battle of the Bulge and details many of his struggles, including the frostbite and pneumonia that finally sent him home. The collection also houses a copy of a photograph of Hurst in his uniform.

This collection consists of an interview with World War II veteran John W. Towle for the Veteran's Oral History Project, Center for the Study of War and Society, Department of History. Towle discusses growing up on a dairy farm in Knoxville and his training and Air Force service during World War II.

The Knoxville First Lutheran Church Bulletin, 1944, is one copy of First Lutheran Church's bulletin made for those in service and the congregation. The Bulletin tried to connect local service men and women while they were away, and to keep the local community informed.

This collection consists of photocopies of World War II photographs that were taken in the Mauthausen Concentration Camp, with brief handwritten commentaries. Also included is a taped interview of Captain Marshall Plummer (11th Armored Division), conducted by Chris Ray (Kristofer Ray).
