This collection consists of one bound memoir, Sooner, written by Joe A. Armenta documenting life aboard the USS Mustin (DD413) during its service in the Pacific Theater in the Second World War.

This collection contains photographs taken by Joe Billig of himself and fellow soldiers training at Camp Phillips, Kansas, during World War II. There are 11 black-and-white photographs. The photographs do not include any captions or identifying information other than the location.

This collection consists of John C. Taylor's typescript memoir, "To Be a P.F.C." At approximately 100 pages, the memoir details Taylor's experiences during World War II serving with the 227th Field Artillery Battalion, 29th Division. Included are Taylor's remembrances of training in Hawaii, particularly during the Japanese attack in 1941, and later serving abroad in France.

This collection contains material related to John Charlton’s World War II military service as a pilot with the 782nd Bomb Squadron. Included are typed remembrances and correspondence of Charlton’s, military documents from his service, and a copy of "Crew 13, 782nd Bomb Squadron, 465th Bomb Group, Italy 1944-45."

The John E. Kesterson Oral History, 2001, is a typescript from an oral history interview with John E. Kesterson by Dr. Kurt Piehler and Lindsey Waller of the University of Tennessee for the Veteran's Oral History Project conducted by the Center for the Study of War and Society. The interview focuses primarily on his World War II experiences, but also covers pre-war and post-war periods. Kesterson shares the experience of surgery on the war front.

This collection consists of John E. Lane's short memoir about his experiences as a private in the United States Marine Corps beginning in June of 1944.
