This collection contains material related to John Charlton’s World War II military service as a pilot with the 782nd Bomb Squadron. Included are typed remembrances and correspondence of Charlton’s, military documents from his service, and a copy of "Crew 13, 782nd Bomb Squadron, 465th Bomb Group, Italy 1944-45."

This collection features John Crowe's personal narrative, "Days in the Wild Blue Yonder," written about his service in the European Theater during World War II.

The John E. Kesterson Oral History, 2001, is a typescript from an oral history interview with John E. Kesterson by Dr. Kurt Piehler and Lindsey Waller of the University of Tennessee for the Veteran's Oral History Project conducted by the Center for the Study of War and Society. The interview focuses primarily on his World War II experiences, but also covers pre-war and post-war periods. Kesterson shares the experience of surgery on the war front.

This collection contains typewritten copies of letters written by John Gabard during his military service in World War II. From January 1944 to September 1945, Gabard wrote almost daily to various family members including his mother, wife, and siblings.

In this narrative, John S. Hurst describes his time in the U. S. Army from his induction in July of 1944 to his discharge in August of 1945. He mentions his service replenishing ammunition during the Battle of the Bulge and details many of his struggles, including the frostbite and pneumonia that finally sent him home. The collection also houses a copy of a photograph of Hurst in his uniform.

Towle discusses growing up on a dairy farm in Knoxville and his training and Air Force service during World War II.

The memoir begins with Worthman’s enlistment in 1942, then follows him through basic training, his service overseas (particularly in France), and back home. The document is 46 typed pages and was written in 1984.
