Clyde W. Kiker Collection on the 290th Combat Engineers
This collection, compiled by Clyde W. Kiker, contains material documenting the 290th Combat Engineers during and after World War II. Included is a typescript memoir entitled “Incident at Bernau [Germany]” by Guy deGrand (undated); a copy of “Reflections of a Combat Infantryman” by James Graff (1977); and a newsletter of the 290th Combat Engineers Veterans (1989).

Earl S. Wilson Memoir
This collection is the World War II memoir of Earl S. Wilson, particularly Wilson’s time training in 1942. The manuscript is a 21-page typed document, made in 1987. The memoir begins with Wilson’s entry into the service in July 1942 and follows him through the end of the year; he recounts stories of his training at Camp Wolters, Fort Leonard Wood, and the University of Kentucky. Wilson later served in the Pacific Theater of War, though this time is not covered in this manuscript.
Earl W. Quintrell Papers
These papers consist of two December 1944 action records for the Destroyer USS Edwards made by the ship's Commanding Officer, Earl W. Quintrell. Also included are his typed answers to a 2002 questionnaire from a researcher, and a letter to the National Archives where copies of the action reports were sent.
Ed Merkel Memoir
