This collection contains letters written by various soldiers throughout World War II. The letters are addressed to friends and family living in Memphis and Knoxville, Tennessee. It appears that a number of the soldiers corresponded with one woman in Memphis, June Bacigalupo, between 1941-1946. The letters, written both at home and abroad, discuss little more than base life and various aspects of training.

Daughters of the American Colonists Clipping, Typescript, and Photograph Regarding the Presentation of a Memorial Tree
This collection houses a typescript of a speech, a newspaper clipping, and a photograph documenting the Daughters of the American Colonists' presentation of a memorial red oak tree to the University of Tennessee to commemorate those who died in World War II. The tree was planted at the entrance to the University's Farm and was intended to be the first of an avenue of memorial trees.
David C. Laing Letter of Wartime Experiences
This collection contains a letter written by World War II veteran David Laing regarding his wartime experience during the Battle of the Bulge. Written in 1984, the letter is nine typed pages and includes a hand-drawn map. Accompanying this letter is a secondary letter (a single typed page) written by Laing in 1988 with additional information.
